Adansonia digitata is an angiosperm which belongs to the family malvaceae and order malvales.The plant is commonly called baobab.The dry pulp is either of this fruit is edible.It is sometimes eaten fresh or dissolved in milk or water to make a drink.Baobab leaves can be eaten as a pickeled product.Baobab seed has a hard seed coat which enables it to withstand drying and remain viable over long periods.Animals like elephants potentially transport the seeds over long distances.Pollination of the flowers are usually done by bats.Baobabs are also called dead-rat tree , monkey-bread tree , upside-down tree etc.These are trees that can grow upto 23 meters high.The trunk of the plant is bottle shaped. The flowers posses 5 leathery petals.
