Description
Indian snake root or Sarpgandha is an erect, evergreen flowering shrub mostly found in the Western Ghats moist forests areas and shady forests in India up to 1200 meters altitude, it belongs the family of Apocynaceae, growing up to 0.2m to 0.6 m tall, stem has no branches and pale brown bark, leaves are 5 cm to 15 cm long and 1.5 cm to 6 cm, flowers are white or pale violet with 0.5 cm to 12.5 cm long blossom period is April to July, seeds are purplish-black when they are ripe. Roots of Indian snake root is used in many of Ayurveda medicines.
