Description
Narrowleaf Rattlepod is an undershrub about 1-2 ft tall, with branches silky pubescent. The species name albida stems from the whitish velvety hairs. Leaf are simple, 2.5-5.5 cm long, 4.5-13 mm broad, linear- oblong or inverted-lanceshaped, blunt, apiculate, silky velvety. Leaf stalk is 2.5 mm or less. Flowers are borne in 6-20-flowered racemes, 5-13 cm long. Bract and bracteoles are linear. Flower stalk is 3-5 mm long. Sepal cup is 6-7 mm long, becoming enlarged in fruit – 3 lower teeth are linear, the upper 2 broader. Flowers are pale yellow. Vexillum is 8-9 mm long. Fruit is stalkless, 1.2-1.6 cm long, oblong-cylindric, glabrous, 6-12-seeded. Flowering: July-November.
