Description
Aromatic, branched herb; branchlets tomentose. Leaves ovate, 6 x 2.5 cm, base cuneate, margin irregular-serrate, apex acute, densely appressed hairy below, less so above; petiole to 1 cm. Racemes spicate, terminal or in upper axils, often branched, to 10 cm. Verti-cillasters spaced below; bracts lanceolate, densely hairy. Calyx 4 mm; lobes 5, subequal, acuminate. Corolla violetish, 6 mm long. Stamens 4; filaments hairy. Nutlets ellipsoid, 0.8 mm, blackish.Patchouli (Pogostemon cablin) is a species of plant from the genus Pogostemon. It is a bushy herb of the mint family, with erect stems, reaching around 75 centimetres (2.5 ft) in height and bearing small, pale pink-white flowers.
